The measured area of turf — the actual grass that needs to be mowed or treated — on a residential or commercial property. Used as the primary basis for pricing lawn care services.
Accurate turf square footage is critical for fair pricing. Total lot size is not the same as turf area — you must subtract the house footprint, driveway, hardscaping, and garden beds. Satellite measurement tools let contractors accurately trace only the grass areas.
"A 10,000 sq ft lot with a 2,500 sq ft house, 800 sq ft driveway, and 700 sq ft gardens has approximately 6,000 sq ft of actual turf."
